This performance at the Kennedy Center&#8217;s Millennium Stage was a milestone for us because in 2008, we first performed together at Fort Wayne&#8217;s Cherry Blossom Festival.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-478 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/a0-330x220.jpg 330w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As Japanese musicians, cherry blossoms continue to hold a special place in our hearts, and it was magnificent to see so many cherry trees at the Tidal Basin as symbols of friendship between Japan and the US.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-479 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8-1024x683.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8-330x220.jpg 330w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/b8.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This concert featured the world premier of Daron Hagen&#8217;s &#8220;Misterioso,&#8221; which is based on The Tale of Heike, as well as two songs related to the flower: Yamada Kengyo&#8217;s &#8220;Cherry Blossom Viewing&#8221; and &#8220;Sakura Sakura.&#8221; We were moved to have a full-house audience, but it gave us an incredible feeling when we had the whole audience sing &#8220;Sakura Sakura&#8221; both in Japanese and English.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-480 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8-268x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8-268x300.jpg 268w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8-768x859.jpg 768w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8-915x1024.jpg 915w, http:\/\/hikarucello.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/c8-197x220.jpg 197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 268px) 100vw, 268px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was also an honor to have Ms. Alicia Adams, Kennedy Center&#8217;s VP of International Programming and Minister Tamaki Tsukada at Embassy of Japan, who is also the director of Japan Information and Culture Center, to give short remarks prior to our performance.
